Statoil
Problem: In the wake of the In Amenas terrorist attack, it was vital that Statoil’s security was taken from great to exceptional. To achieve this goal, Statoil’s security professionals needed to learn how to communicate their knowledge in the best way possible.
Solution: I designed a workshop and coaching package in how to use writing to influence, persuade and protect. I delivered it to Statoil security professionals as part of their Strengthen Effective Security Performance programme.
Results: The participants learned key writing skills that has enabled them to position their knowledge and use it to persuade. They now write in a way that makes clear recommendations with a commercial understanding, highlighting their status as dedicated security professionals. What’s more, their writing increasingly speaks to the needs, wants and desires of the CEO, the VPs and the senior committee members.
